Wengen Paragliding Sites

From Lauterbrunnen, take the cogwheel railroad to Wengen. From there, take the cable car to Männlichen. From there, walk north to the launch site. The launch site is flat terrain. Walking time: 10 min Take-off direction: 202.5° - 247.5° Altitude 2220m

Either from Grindelwald with the cable car to the Maennlichen or from Lauterbrunnen with the Wengernalp cable car to Wengen. Then take the cable car to the Maennlichen. From there 300m, 20min walk towards the Maennlichen summit. The starting area is fairly central between the cable car and the Maennlichen summit. You can start in two different directions. For the start towards the east (Grindelwald) practically the whole Maennlichen chain can be used. The launch site has some undulations and hollows. Light thermals at the tree line to Holenstein. Take-off towards Lauterbrunnen (west) is well suited in the flat couloir with a weak westerly wind. In the afternoon, however, there is strong sunlight on the steep western slope below the launch site. The resulting sometimes strong thermals can swirl the launch plateau. Quieter in the fall! The thermal access in the direction of Lauterbrunnen is directly in front of the launch site or to the left and right along the entire Maennliche Kette. Use is free of charge. The local Jungfrau Taechi club is the operator and authorized instructor. Suitability Normal take-off time towards Grindelwald 9:00 -12:00. Light thermals from 10:00 am. Normal take-off time towards Lauterbrunnen 9:00 - 17:00. Thermals from 13:00. Can be launched and flown in all normal weather conditions. Due to its easterly orientation it is ideal for a nice morning flight and especially in breezy conditions. Also suitable for beginners and large groups. On the west side towards Lauterbrunnen there are some strong thermals and only for experienced pilots. For landing in Lauterbrunnen or Stechelberg, registration at the heliport is obligatory. From Lauterbrunnen by cable car to Gruetschalp. From there 150m walk up to the end of the clearing on the right. The start is then directly under the forest. The starting place is rather small. Llinks it has trees. Mostly the wind comes up thermally along the slope. Thermike entrance after the start up to 300m left along the forest. The launch site can only be used from May to November, i.e. summer season. Paragliding Jungfrau Gmbh operates and maintains the paragliding launch site at the "Gruetschalp" in Lauterbrunnen as an authorised user. For private purposes (solo pilots, biplace pilots for passenger flights) without charge, for commercial purposes after consultation with Paragliding Jungfrau GmbH. suitability Normal start time 8:30 - 13:00. Thermals from 9:00. The Gruetschalp is an ideal morning slope. But from 13:00 o'clock on, strong side turbulences are to be expected which can make it difficult to fly over the trees under the launch site. From Lauterbrunnen with the rack railway to the Kleine Scheidegg. From there on foot to the launch site. The starting place is a meadow in the middle. Altitude 2100m

From Grindelwald with the Jungfrau Railway to the Eiger Glacier. From there 5 min. walk down. The starting point is 50m after the Werkstaette Eigergletscher. The launch site is relatively flat. Start direction Kl. Scheidegg. The wind is irregular, sometimes light glacier down wind. You can fly from here towards Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald. The use is free of charge. suitability Normal start time 12:00 -18:00. Not suitable for foehn layers. Partial crosswind and/or downwind. Beautiful autumn flight or evening flight along the foot of the Eiger. For the landing in Lauterbrunnen or Stechelberg a registration at the heliport is obligatory. From Lauterbrunnen by post bus to Isenfluh. From there take the cable car to Sulwald. From there on foot to the launch site. The launch site is a steep large meadow. Altitude 2320m
