One of the two most frequented places: You can reach it in 15 minutes from the mountain station towards the west transmitter. The paraglider launch site is at the Gipfelkreutz, the hang-glider launch site is 50m to the east - ramp. At Schöckl, the Alps run out to the east. This is why it is a particularly attractive flying area for paragliders and hang-gliders not far from Graz. The mountain railway transports the pilots upwards. From there an entertaining footpath to the main launch site (southeast). It is strongly recommended to visit the landing site before the runway ascent. It is quite big, but falls off to the south. It's not that easy, especially in thermal conditions and at the same time landing pilots. Attention must be paid to cable cars, roads, car parks and cables. Alternatively, you can land on the dragon landing site further south. Pay the landing fee at the club (currently 4 € - 2010) or at the cable car in the restaurant. Cross-country flights are possible, but not so easy. The maximum height is limited due to the near control zone Graz. Be sure to inform your local authorities about the SRA Graz and the control zone. For reasons of game protection, it is not allowed to start before 2 hours after sunrise. End 2 hours before sunset. An interesting flying area. One of the two most frequently used launch sites: A ten-minute walk from the mountain station in an easterly direction. A wooden signpost at the mountain station points to this launch site ("Startplatz Süd"). There is a hang-glider launch ramp roughly in the middle of the slope, which offers space for about 3 gliders side by side. Sufficient wind indicators are available. As in any other flying area, the gliders should only be laid out in "full gear". This avoids unnecessary congestion and discussions! SO launch site simple. At Schöckl, the Alps run out to the east. From the landing site in the direction of Teichalm - Sommeralm. After approx. 5 minutes There is a farmhouse on the left-hand side. Park at the crossroads below. At the farmhouse there is a post box on the right-hand side with a sign for paragliders. Here you have to pay the starting fee of 2€ per day. Follow the path to the south until you reach the edge of the forest and then take the footpath to the north-west to the start. Walking time approx. 10 minutes - easy to find, otherwise ask. The launch is a slightly inclined meadow launch in a large forest aisle. Hang-gliders should ask for directions beforehand. Wide meadow launch site in a clearing. Small flying mountain above Fladnitz, which is also used as a training area for kite and paraglider training.
