The launch site may only be used by paraglider pilots with a B license in perfect and stable wind conditions. All pilots require sufficient flying experience and a special authorization from the ODV, including a briefing. Pilots must have mastered a safe take-off and aborted take-off technique (reverse inflation, glider control, etc.). Possible obstruction of ski slope operations and / or hikers must be ruled out. The ground conditions must be grippy and safe. Prescribed wind conditions: At least 10 km/h laminar downwind (easterly wind), max. 25 km/h. Tandem launches are not permitted. After take-off, you must immediately turn / drift to the right in the direction of flight without approaching the ropes. Always keep a sufficient distance from the ropes of the cable car.
Imposing location in the high alpine Allgäu Alps. The flight area is challenging all round. The main launch site is the Zeigersattel, facing west on an optimally sloping meadow. The Zeigersattel is the easiest and safest launch site on the Nebelhorn and is suitable for all pilots. It can be reached on foot from the Probsthaus mountain station in 10 minutes. There is also the launch site directly at the Probsthaus mountain station - also west. This launch site is located parallel to the cable car and is somewhat more challenging (please note the conditions). Tandem pilots regularly take off from here. The Nebelhorn summit with several launch sites is reached by another cable car section. A briefing for all pilots is required for all launch sites in the summit area. Stable wind conditions are necessary. Take-offs may only be made parallel to the cable car ropes. The prerequisites for take-offs are a surface with good grip, appropriate weather conditions and flying experience. In winter, a winter launch site is set up at the summit in coordination with Nebelhornbahn AG (west). The east launch below the terrace launch site may only be used by club pilots (conditions).
Two-seater launches: According to the ODV statutes, only tandems may fly with the club's permission. A distinction is made between private and commercial flights. Further information can be found on the ODV website (https://www.odv-allgaeu.de/ ).
There is another launch site further west (Geißfuß), which can be reached on foot in 1 hour. The Geißfuß is much easier in terms of terrain than the Nebelhorn summit.
The Oybele landing site is bordered by trees and can be turbulent. Pilots can also land on the Seealpe at the Speichersee (keep your distance). Further information from the club: http://www.odv-allgaeu.de/ . The ODV flying site regulations are binding.
As the Nebelhornbahn does not transport hang gliders, hang gliding on the Nebelhorn is no longer possible!

B: Terrain-specific requirements
1st Nebelhorn summit (west of the summit station): The launch site may only be used by particularly experienced pilots with a B license. A briefing is required for all pilots. Tandem launches are not permitted. The wind conditions must be stable (downwind). In the event of unstable ground and weather conditions, take-offs are prohibited.
2nd Nebelhorn summit (terrace launch site): The launch site may only be used by experienced pilots with a B license in stable wind conditions. All pilots require instruction from the ODV. Tandem launches may only take place after special instruction and approval by the ODV. The launch area must be marked. It must be ensured that hikers on the hiking trail or skiers on the ski slope are not endangered by pilots taking off. A sufficient safety distance from people, buildings and the cable car ropes must be maintained at all times. If the optional winter launch site is set up with Nebelhornbahn AG, it must be set up safely and secured accordingly. Take-offs may only take place parallel to the cable car ropes.
3rd Nebelhorn summit (east launch site): The launch site may only be used by paraglider pilots with a B license in perfect and stable wind conditions. After take-off, you must immediately turn / drift right in the direction of flight without approaching the ropes. A sufficient distance must always be kept from the ropes of the cable car.
4. Nebelhorn Probsthaus: All pilots at the Probsthaus launch site require instruction from the ODV. Perfect and stable wind conditions from a westerly direction are required. Take-offs in turbulent conditions are not permitted. Pilots with an A-license, B-license and tandem license are permitted to launch. A safe launch technique in steep terrain is required. Training flights are permitted if the student pilots have successfully completed at least 30 high-altitude flights in other flying areas, the wind conditions are laminar and the pilots have mastered safe turning. In case of doubt, training flights must be carried out at the "Zeigersattel" launch site, which is clearly more suitable. Training flights must be supervised by flight instructors at the take-off and landing site via radio. Always keep a safe distance from the cables of the cable car.
5th Nebelhorn Zeigersattel: The take-off area is suitable for pilots with an A license, B license, tandem license and for training flights. Take-offs may only be carried out when the wind is blowing from the west. Top landings are permitted if the wind conditions are suitable, the pilot is proficient in top landings and there is no danger to persons.
6. Nebelhorn Geißfuß: The take-off area is suitable for pilots with an A license, B license, tandem license and for training flights. Take-offs may only be carried out when the wind is blowing from the southwest.
7. nature and wildlife protection: The requirements and conditions must be made known to all pilots and must be strictly observed.
8. landing site Seealpe: When landing at the Seealpe, sufficient distance from the reservoir must be maintained.
9. landing site Oybele: Approach, cross-approach and final approach must be flown in such a way that sufficient distance to the terrain and approaching pilots can always be maintained.
10. the flying site regulations of the ODV must be strictly observed.
