Kössen is undoubtedly one of the flight centres of paragliding and hang gliding. The Unternberghorn offers beautiful take-off places and the landing meadow is generous. There is also a great infrastructure with a cable car and the famous Sepp Himberger flying bar not far from the old double-decker. In the flyer bar you can find information about the flight area (also hazard warnings) and current weather reports. The area is used by flight schools for high-altitude flight training. Weekends are often very busy - better during the week. The flight school offers two-seater flights. Take-off point 2 is located on the Hirschenstein. The way there takes about 10 minutes from the mountain station on the hiking trail towards Aschau. The launch site is marked by a sign with a first aid kit and windsock. It is not permitted to set up on the hiking trails. Wind: NW to N. Light NE is ok. In any case, observe the large windsock on the Felsköpfl (Hirschenstein) west of the launch site as well as flags at the Gorialm. It is better not to take off in easterly winds. Lee!
