You can take off in front of and behind the mountain rescue hut. The launch site in front of the mountain rescue hut is only suitable for experienced and very safe launchers due to the lift line running directly next to it, as flyers can easily be pushed into the lift ropes. The launch site behind the mountain rescue hut under the "Bergwachtkreuz" is less problematic. The hang gliders have a ramp. Paragliders take off to the right of the ramp in the meadow depression or next to the mountain rescue hut - towards the east. Beware of avalanche blasting ropes above the eastern take-off point; in strong easterly winds, it is better to lay out further down. The flight route here first runs parallel to the drag lift before turning left to the front ridge towards Kreuzeck. Wind direction from 30° - 170°, not with west wind or foehn on Zugspitze > 35 km/h. Laber östl. der Bergstation

Right by the mountain station. Very steeply sloping alpine meadow. Definitely not for beginners. It is almost impossible to abort the start. In slush, even laying out is a challenge. Launch site partially closed in 2010 to allow new grass to grow. However, launching next to it or under it is possible. The starting places at the Laber are demanding and not suitable for beginners. Therefore the mountain is also rather little frequented. A great view from the Laber with a good option for cross country flights to the west (Tegelberg).
