Start meadow below the mountain station at the end of the chair lift. In winter about 200 meters north of the piste. Do not start when skiing on the piste.
Dorfgastein, situated at the entrance to the Gastein Valley, has retained its village character to this day despite increasing tourism. From here, the Dorfgasteiner Bergbahn cable car connects the Fulseck and the launch sites for hang-gliders and paragliders around the summit station via two sections. The first thing that catches your eye when you leave the mountain station is the wooden ramp, which the hang gliders use as a "jump-off point" when there is wind from the east. For experienced paraglider pilots, there is only a small, easterly starting point on the ridge north of the mountain station. Anyway, the mountain is better suited for wind from western directions. Then kites and paragliders can start on the ski slope (only in summer) at the end of the lift routes northwest below the mountain station. From here it is not necessary to fly around the mountain ridge, as from the east launch sites. In winter, when skiing, it is possible to start in a westerly direction about 200 metres north of the mountain station. However, if you want to get on a cross-country flight early in the day, the Stubnerkogel is the place to be. Nevertheless, considerable distances from the Fulseck are also possible in the later stages of the day. The route is relatively easy and frequently flown towards Bad Gastein along the western flanks of the valley. In Dorfgastein there are two landing possibilities for paragliders. Experienced skiers can hover in directly on an inclined meadow below the car park at the valley station. However, houses, trees and a power line should be taken very seriously. Another landing site, which is also the main landing site for dragons, is located next to the main road towards Bad Hofgastein, about two kilometres from the valley station. In the terrain and with cross country flights the hunting, game and bird protection areas around the Fulseck should be considered absolutely.
