Emmetten Paragliding Sites

The Niederbauen, is a very simple flying area with a very large, continuously steepening launch site. Except in case of foehn or foehn tendency, any wind direction is possible even in moderate to strong winds thanks to the sheltered location. Basically, there is always a light thermal north-westerly wind in summer anyway (ideal starting point)! Huge TO; just a few steps from gondola/ restaurant. Large meadow flank that quickly drops steeply. Perhaps the most beautiful airfield on Lake Lucerne. The village of Emmetten is situated on a half-height site. The starting point is directly next to the top station of the cable car. On the large meadow launch site you start directly in the direction of the deep blue water. According to the exposition one often finds best flight or soaring conditions in the late afternoon. In summer the cable car runs until 19.00 o'clock. The landing place looks difficult at first sight, because it is strongly inclined. Nevertheless, it is relatively easy to approach and, depending on the prevailing valley wind situation, also equipped with a sufficiently long glide path. Take the cable car from Beckenried to Klewenalp. The launch site is a flat meadow, then the edge of the terrain and steep terrain which is secured by a safety net. The launch site is a stone's throw to the east of the mountain station. The lift staff inform us that in winter "the launch site is not official and is therefore closed off. However, it can be used". Nobody knows the reasons for the incomplete closure. However, the real reason is probably the children at the neighboring children's ski lift. Walk from Klewenalp (about 2 hours) to Hinter Jochli and up the mountain to the starting point. Altitude 2169m

Take the cable car from Dallenwil to Niederrickenbach. From there on foot (approx. 30 min) to the chairlift which leads from Alpboden to Haldigrat. From there walk to the launch site. The launch site is a steep meadow. Caution: The whole area is teeming with hay ropes! The Haldifrat is an excellent starting point for cross-country flights with paragliders or hang-gliders. Numerous championships have already been held from the mountain ridge above the top station of the chairlift. The starting positions are not easy to reach. After the ascent with the Niederrickenbach mountain railway and a short walk to the Haldigrat chairlift, you reach the starting positions at almost 2,000 metres.
