The Chaumont Nord site is the latest addition to the canton of Neuchâtel and the Club Albatros. Located in the commune of Savagnier, it culminates at an altitude of 1130 m, allowing the view of the entire Val-de-Ruz to plunge down. Oriented NW, it is an opening in the forest that allows paragliders to take off. This site is very popular at the end of the summer day, but not that, indeed, it is not uncommon to be able to make magnificent flights in all seasons and even to reach the plateau by passing over the Chaumont summit.
Technical site, more for paragliding, open trench in the forest so bordered by trees, very short run. Ideally a headwind between 15 and 20 kmh. Requires good control of the inflation of the sail face. Sometimes thermal output. Then very often soaring flight in oil and/or thermo-dynamics along the ridge of several kilometers.
Orientation :
Oriented NW, takeoff altitude at 1130 m ASL, the site allows flying with winds from NW to N, but ideally NW. When the wind is blowing, the site is turbulent or even downwind, even if it can sometimes appear to be facing the decoration. The site does not have a tag.
