Winter:
Very technical landing, surrounded by large obstacles (ski lift, chairlift and kindergarten). Right-hand PTU mandatory, steep gradient close to the ground.
Summer:
Very technical, high obstacles (chairlift, buildings, ski lift, snow cannon), narrow terrain, impossible to land with more than one person, changing air conditions...
Used by instructors, in tandem.
Morning site (South-East). The aerology can set in quite early (from 9:30 sometimes!) in all seasons.
Well protected from north-westerly winds by the Ecrins mountains.
Beware of west, north and northeast winds.
Dangerous areas :
- West faces: The sector between Tête d'Amont and Condamine) is downwind of the breeze when it's strong. You need to fly high!
- The Entraygues valley: A must if you want to get to Les Bans. It's a narrow valley, windy in breezes, and no comfortable landing option...
- Fournel valley: For cross-country pilots only, the crossing between Puy-Saint-Vincent and Fressinières should be flown at a very high altitude to avoid having to land in this narrow and often turbulent valley.
The landing area is farmland. It is essential to land only on the official landing area, to reach the packing area and to leave via the campsite.
WINTER: Ski ascent compulsory
Access by chairlift (2 sections), take-off is below the top of the TS de la crête.
SUMMER:
Chairlift access on foot, see opening days on the resort's website https://www.ski-pelvoux.com/
5 min by car between Vallouise and Pelvoux or 1h on foot along the Gyr.
