Beautiful soaring area for south-west & south winds. The special highlight is the wide compression zone, which creates an extremely laminar wind that carries you high above the city. The take-off site is easily accessible by car & parking spaces are available. Top landings are possible for very experienced pilots. Beginners should land on the beach! ATTENTION!!! There is a hotel to the left of the launch site that generates strong rotors. NEVER fly too low behind the hotel! Sesimbra is also one of the few areas of Portgal where cars are often broken into. Do not leave any objects lying around and watch out for strangers peering into cars. 1- and 2-seater Altitude 189m

The best and most beautiful take-off on Madeira concerning XC-flights, altitude gain, Acro, SIV, around 300 days per year good flying conditions perfect grass ramp. All pg flight records on the south side of Madeira were flown from here, no high voltage cables, no trees, and wide wind range to take off without obstacles and no cloudbase below, easy top landing, a dream for pilots! Launch site not huge but because there is consistent wind (direction and speed) it's not a problem Top landing possible but it is a small area so needs a bit of spot landing skill.
