easy launch for one glider
A more challenging airfield on Mount Karmel.
The area is open for every pilot, there are no usage fees.
The site is located in the final approach area of the Ramat David military airport. For this reason, flight operations on the premises are only permitted on Fridays and Saturdays. On all other days the airfield is closed.
Demanding terrain! The slope is steep, rocky and densely wooded. Due to the terrain structure very frequent turbulences. Please make sure that the actual wind direction is correct, as the sea wind from the Mediterranean Sea occasionally simulates an easterly wind in the lee and arrives as a tail wind at a height of 20 m above the launch site.
The starting place is comfortable, but wooded from all sides. If the wind is less strong, start from the upper slope, otherwise the height will not be enough to get over the trees. Immediately after the start a turbulence is to be expected.
Never soar too deep, never fly into the gorges.
Shortly before the landing place there is a hill, which appears flat from above. Begin landing approach at sufficient altitude.
The landing site is located at 45° to the right of the launch site.
The landing site is not marked separately. Farmers agree to land on all uncultivated agricultural land. Please avoid landing on ordered fields. If you have landed on a cultivated field, leave the field as quickly as possible and pack on a suitable area.
The landing riot is not prescribed in Israel."
From Str. No. 672 follow the signs in the direction of Karmeliterkloster. After 1.5 km turn left into a forest path on the monastery access road. After another 1.5 km on the forest road, the starting point is on the right, just before a sharp left turn. The launch site is hidden by the trees in front of it. Park by the roadside and walk 20m between the trees.
