A 1 km long slope on Mount Karmel. Demanding. Frequently with sea wind from the Mediterranean Sea. Especially in spring and autumn a very thermal flying area. Starting point of many cross country flights. The area is open for every pilot, there are no usage fees. Ideal wind speed 5-25 km/h. The launch site is very small. Cars park in the immediate vicinity. Due to the thermal upwinds, the winding is demanding. Inexperienced unsuitable. A holding safety device by other planes is recommended. With a southern wind component, turbulence occurs in the vicinity of the hotel building. Raise as far from the building as possible. As soon as a thermal is over and no sea wind arrives, you can quickly lose a lot of altitude. Please maintain a constant view of the landing site. Cross-country flights only start at min. 500 m above sea level, otherwise the altitude is not sufficient to fly safely over the place. An airway runs over road no. 4 in north-south direction at a height of 500-800 m. The landing site is located 45° to the right below the launch site, behind a large eucalyptus tree. Tavor

A very thermal flying area in the Lower Galilee. Starting point of many cross country flights. Mountain of the Transfiguration according to Christian tradition. The area is open for every pilot, there are no usage fees. Ideal wind speed 5-25 km/h. The launch site is narrow and steep. Due to the terrain structure, dense woodland and thermal gusts, the wind at the launch site is unstable. Mounting is not always easy, even for experienced pilots. If the wind has a southern component, you can be pulled into the trees on the right side of the launch site. A holding safety device by other planes is recommended. After takeoff, fly to the left immediately. If the wind has a northern component it is difficult to gain altitude. Sometimes the height is not high enough to get over the trees below the launch site. The slope to the right of the launch site is heavily hit by the wind, although it is not a classic lee. As soon as you reach this area you will sink and have to make an emergency landing in the middle of the forest without being able to steer the glider. The wind on the slope above the launch site and below the monastery is no upwind anymore and much stronger than at the launch site. Please avoid at all costs and always keep enough height. Usually there are good starting conditions for only a short time in the morning. Then many pilots wait for their launch window. Please be completely ready to take off and only then lay out the glider. After three failed start attempts please rest a bit on the side and let some other pilots start. Muhraka

Immediately after the start a turbulence is to be expected. Never soar too deep, never fly into the gorges. Shortly before the landing place there is a hill, which appears flat from above. Ideal wind speed 5-25 km/h. The wind at the launch site is usually weaker than at the tops. The penetration of clouds from the west or northwest is visible from the launch site late. A too low flight over the canyon in front of the take-off can be dangerous, because there are no landing possibilities there. In strong east winds, the mountain 2 km east of the launch site occasionally produces a rotor which can lead to rapid loss of altitude. To the south of the launch site there is an air road at altitudes of 900-1100 m. The western mountain Meron (with the 3 summits) is a restricted area. The landing site is not visible from the launch site. Please visit the landing site before take-off and pay attention to power and telephone lines. The landing site is not separately designated.
