Two launches facing south and one facing north. All the wind directions can be flown except easterlies. People fly here all the year round, even in winter (of course, it's very cold). The take off sites are very small, so pratice your ground handling.
The flight from Mang Mountain gives you a panoramic view of the surrounding area including the Mang Mountain Forest Park, the Ming Tombs Reservoir and the Ming Tombs.
Foreigners should be aware that there are reports that the local school refuses to let foreigners fly. Comments have also been made that the level of professionalism and safety is insufficient at this school. Local pilots are reported to be very friendly, though, so perhaps they could help set up a flight.
Linzhou is 3 hours south of Beijing, and is a better spot if you have the time to travel there. The local school is professional and speaks good English. Linzhou is on Paragliding Map too, so check it out.
