Kerio Valley or better - up in the Highlands of Kenya - here in this area you'll find many places to start - also ideal for beginners. The west side of Kerio Valley is the best part to fly (90% of the wind will come from east). Down to the bottom of the valley is a hight difference from about 1200 m. The ideal starting place is near the Hotel Kerio View!
Direkt neben dem Hotel gelegen, sehr schöner Startplatz. Ausreichend groß. Man startet gleich in eine sehr gut tragende Stelle der Kante hinein.
Toplandungen sind möglich, aber zur Mittagszeit sehr anspruchsvoll, da man vom Lee einer der stärksten Thermikablösestellen her anfliegt. Windböen können die Schirmgeschwindigkeit durchaus übersteigen.
Die Landung unterhalb des Hotels auf dem Zwischenplateau und Hochfahrt mit dem Motorradtaxi ist dann eher zu empfehlen. Abends ist Toplanden für geübte Flieger kein Problem mehr.

The neighbor has just decided to steal and put a fence on KV land.

By order of the County Government of Elgeyo Marakwet, all National and Interational Paragliding Pilots, wanting to fly from any launch spot in the Keiro Valley must prove:
1. Membership of the Paragliding Association of Kenya (PAK)
60 day membership: KSH 1500 / USD 15

In the PAK online registration your Name, Contact, License/Currency and Glider details will be stored in a database. The PAK will then email you a 'Permit to Paraglide in Kenya' pdf document.
In case of a check, the authorities will ask to view this document either on your phone or on paper.
Any pilot flying without a valid 'Permit to Paraglide in Kenya' runs the risk of arrest and/or confiscation of their flying gear.
