Vorsicht vor dem Rotor bei Winden aus stark noerdlicher Richtung. This is the most popular site near Seattle and will have pilots most fly able days. The hike up is 1.8 miles and 1700 feet of gain. Use the Chirico trail from the PooPoo Point trailhead. This is also the LZ location. Most wind directions are flyable except East. Great flight park that offers superb ridge soaring on most afternoons when wind is from ~ SW. Amazing conditions for speed flying in the early morning and late evening on most days. Many improvements in last few years. Now owned by a friendly family. ATV rides take you up to the 650' launch for a small fee and from there you can choose to hike up further. Site staff works hard to keep roads and trails cleared and level. There are many brand new launches up to 800', and from there the usual higher launches that you have to hike to. Plenty of room to run for no-wind forward launches at the 800', when winds are 5-12 mph a reverse will get you up in a few steps. Mt. Howard is a foot launch paragliding & hang gliding site located 7 miles south of Joseph, Oregon. The launch site faces north and is most commonly flown from August through the end of September. The Wallowa Lake Tramway (WLT) offers transportation to the public to the top of the mountain. Then, a ½ mile hiking trail leads to the launch site, located on National Forest land. This is a high profile and sensitive flying site so please respect this site guide information and only fly within your limits. We can’t afford any incidents that could jeopardize our permission to fly this beautiful site. If you aren’t 100% confident about your flight, don’t launch! The Eagle Cap Paragliding Club (ECPC) is committed to managing and maintaining a safe launch flying site at Mt. Howard. Please follow these recommendations. All pilots are required to be CURRENT members of the United States Hang Gliding & Paragliding Association (USHPA). A minimum Paragliding *Intermediate (P-3) with special skill TUR (Turbulence) or Hang Gliding Advanced (H-4) certification is required. All licenses will be checked, indemnity waiver signed, site guide review completed, and ECPC membership collected before visiting pilots are signed off to fly. Please contact the Eagle Cap Paragliding Club before you arrive to organize paperwork and a site briefing. Paragliding Intermediate (P-3) pilots are required to have the turbulence (TUR) special skill, and it is highly recommended to also have the High Altitude (HA), Restricted Landing Field (RLF), and Cross Country (X-C) special skills. This high elevation-flying site needs to be given high respect by visiting pilots, especially those pilots who are accustomed to flying at lower elevations and with wind. High elevation and thinner air will cause gliders to launch, fly, and land differently than at lower elevations. Generally, the site is flown in light north wind conditions. Zero wind launches are common and good alpine (forward) launches are required with these launching conditions, as the main launch is steep and surrounded by boulders. Horse is one of the best mountain XC sites in San Diego, but also offers excellent site flying - particularly during the winter. Although Horse is flyable all year, during the summer months it can be extremely turbulent until early evening and the turbulence in both the primary LZs should not be underestimated. There are two general modes for flying Horse - the first is typical site flying in thermals which are plentiful on both sides of the canyon, and the second is convergence XC flying. Site flying is pretty straightforward, but going XC from Horse requires a thorough site briefing from a local pilot. In the evening, Horse makes a very nice first mountain flight for low airtime pilots - the LZ is visible the entire time and the valley is very buoyant during evening glass offs. Do NOT park vehicles in upper set-up area, keep clear for top landings. Aside from the one shown on the map (primary launch) there are also launches facing West, East and even North.** Update ** I saw two launches one up top which is a small SW facing launch and one about 30-40 meters down which is more South facing and a bit bigger. It's about a 20 minute walk from the base to the top I would guess. 海拔 563米

Grass area. Large enough for a few wings at the LZ. There is a launch ramp for hang gliders and an area next to that for paragliders to launch. This is the crème de la crème of flying clubs.
